I'm kind of ignoring the Adoulin story right now (I'm on like 4-2) in order to play cleanup on all of the old content. I've just been on a stupid quest to complete the entire game, which is half maddening and half satisfying. I'd also been playing the WotG story alongside the Bastok story missions and it surprisingly added a lot to it. I just thought the tensions and the history behind it was interesting. So I just zoomed through Bastok as well (I'd been Sandy 10 for years), and I'm not sure whether it's because I'm older and can appreciate the storylines more, but Bastok actually wound up being my favorite of the bunch. Now with 99+117-119 gear and trusts it's a whole lot of nothing. when I quit the last time back in ~2011 I had gotten stuck on the final Windurst quest, which was kind of annoying for a level 90 solo. Doing all three nation missions totally isn't a problem now for 99s. I think I'm going to be playing this game until they shut the servers down or I die, whichever happens first.

I'm not sure if I'll ever be 100% done with this game. I was so married to the game & my linkshell from like 2004-2009 and I kind of like running on my own schedule now hahaha. I'm not sure I could do the whole guild+grind style of play anymore. He keeps thinking about moving to it but doesn't wanna leave me & I kind of like being on a quiet server. My dad stays pretty tuned into the community since he stil plays like crazy & says that the really active server is currently Asura iirc. My server is definitely quiet enough that there aren't many groups even going on. Luckily with Trusts it's kind of nothing now but still a slog. I'm trying to finish the quest with his hat right now, which is all vanilla + zilart jobs to 75+ and beating him on all of them. Yeah the Maat Alter Ego is just 6 jobs to 75 & beating him up a bunch. Then of course months later they buffed SMN and it's awesome now. I used to sic Carbuncle on Bombs in Ifrit's Cauldron or Uleguerand Range and kite them around until they used Self-Destruct. nobody invited SMNs to parties because they were basically used as worse versions of WHMs until ~70-75. I got really into the job back in the real early years because I thought the avatars looked cool as heck & they had a reputation for being some of the best DDs endgame.
